Similar to Mahogany, Red Meranti is recognized by its bright red timber. This wood is found in well-drained lowland forests, low hills, tops and upper slopes of ridges. It is most commonly used for light construction, furniture, joinery, interior fittings, door & window frames, panelling, partitions, utility flooring, mouldings, fancy doors, boat construction, veneer and plywood.

Meranti is widely harvested and available worldwide, and it moderately priced despite being imported.
